With elevations ranging from 1,500 to 2,500 metres, Hochfügen offers snow-sure and reliable winter conditions. The Hochfügen–Hochzillertal ski area offers 93 kilometres of slopes – from wide-open runs and the beginner area at Lamark to challenging pistes and special experiences in the snow. Short distances and direct access to the ski area make starting your day on the slopes easy – and if you stay in Hochfügen, you can enjoy ski-in/ski-out right from your hotel.

Whether you prefer relaxed skiing, days on the slopes with the family, sporting challenges, freeriding or ski touring, in Hochfügen you don't have to choose just one side of winter.

Turns, Canyons and Speed

Sometimes a day on the slopes can offer a little more. The FunLine adds variety with banked turns, rollers and Crazy Snow Lines. In the Natural Canyon, the natural terrain becomes part of the experience. Test your speed on the SpeedLine or capture your run on video at the Skimovie. Little challenges along the way let you decide just how sporty you want your ski day to be.

Sometimes it is worth simply taking off your skis for a moment. At the Waidoffen top station at 2,431 metres, the viewing platform opens up sweeping views across the winter mountains. A place to pause, take a breath and enjoy the scenery – and to experience Hochfügen from a completely different perspective.

Experience Freeriding – and Stay Safe

Hochfügen has long been one of the most popular freeride areas in the Alps among the freeride community. Its varied terrain, high altitude and numerous opportunities beyond the groomed slopes attract freeriders from Austria and abroad to the Zillertal.

Freeriding and safety go hand in hand. The FreeridePoint Hochfügen provides information on snow and weather conditions as well as the current avalanche situation. Courses and guided sessions for different experience levels, the Hochfügen Skifriends and an avalanche transceiver training area complete the offer. First Line Skiing is a special experience for advanced skiers: before the lifts open for the day, you head up the mountain with a guide – and, conditions permitting, into the untouched early-morning snow.

Up the Mountain Under Your Own Steam

For those who prefer to make their own way up the mountain, Hochfügen offers designated ascent routes for ski tourers. Ski Touring Friday is a particularly atmospheric experience: as the regular ski day comes to an end, the climb begins beneath the evening sky. At the top, the 8er Alm awaits for a well-earned stop – turning the evening into a winter experience that continues long after the last lift has closed.

For an even more alpine experience, head to the Pfaffenbichl Winter Via Ferrata. The 260-metre route climbs 115 vertical metres and includes a 28-metre suspension bridge, with impressive views across the winter mountains. The starting point is located at the Waidoffen top station at 2,431 metres.

Skiing Together – Even at Different Levels

Hochfügen gives families the freedom to spend the day skiing together while still choosing runs that suit their individual abilities. At Lamark, beginners and children will find easy-to-navigate terrain and practice lifts for their first turns. More confident young skiers can explore the JUZI Line with its tunnels, rollers and banked turns, while experienced skiers will find plenty of sporting challenges throughout the ski area.

This makes Hochfügen particularly convenient for families and groups with different skiing abilities: everyone can find a run that suits them – and with everything close by, it is easy to meet up again.

When the Ski Day Isn't Over Yet

On seven evenings during the season, Hochfügen shows a different side of winter. Hochfügen Night combines night skiing with an impressive show of snow, light and fire.

And eventually, everything becomes quiet. The last turns have been made, the night sky stretches above the high plateau and tranquillity returns around the hotels.

The next morning, the snow is waiting right outside your door again.
